On this page are examples of EVP recordings from Joe Giaquinto's paranormal investigations with author and historian, Kerriann Flanagan Brosky. These EVPs are featured in Kerriann's first historical ghost story book, GHOSTS OF LONG ISLAND: Stories of the Paranormal (2006).

Wickham Farm

Joe asks Tom how many years ago the murders had taken place. Tom pauses for a minute, trying to remember the exact date.

While he is thinking, a man's voice quietly says, "hundred and ninety," then Tom immediately says, "almost two hundred years ago, not quite."

Raynham Hall

When Kerriann and I went to investigate the kitchen, we found the door was closed and the museum was using that room for a private purpose.

As we began to walk away to investigate the rest of the house, we heard the kitchen door make a sound like someone let the door bang shut.

On the recording you hear the bang as we heard it. This same phenomena happened a second time a couple of minutes later.

Footnote: The sound of the door banging actually created an EVP on the white noise and a ghostly voice can be heard on the recorded banging sound.

Sayville Modern Diner

Often, translating EVPs takes quite a bit of earwork as well as audio processing to obtain the message being spoken. Once in a while however, we get a loud and clear voice speaking.

When this EVP occurred, our ghost investigation team was sitting at a nearby diner having coffee and cake after our monthly meeting. One team member was telling a ghost story about a cake pan that mysteriously got tossed onto the floor of her kitchen one night. The story was quite lengthy, but we all listened for the punch line.

At the very moment the punch line was told, you hear a screaming voice say, "Take your pie in the attic!" I guess the spirit couldn't wait any longer and decided to comment.

It's interesting that the spirit used the word 'pie' which like the cake pan in the story talks about dessert.

In my opinion this just shows that these recordings aren't random sounds or radio stations coming through - the spirits are there and listening and commenting.

Southampton College

After Mr. Gearon, the plant manager of the college says, "The risers were higher and the treads were more narrow," you hear the soft sound of grain sifting through a chute.

This sound occurs as we walk past a trap door along the side of the stairway and Mr. Gearon tells us that there may have been a system of grain chutes when the windmill was used to store grain.

Lloyd's Antiques

After Kerriann's camera has fallen, you hear the sound of glass breaking.

Lloyd's Antiques

"Levi?" Joe asks.

Joe thinks Levi the ghost was the culprit who caused Kerriann's camera to mysteriously fall to the floor.

Immediately after Joe asks the question you hear, "Pssst," like someone was saying, "come over here."

Also note the emphatic bang at the end of the audio clip.
